Ultrasound
Ultrasound testing uses reflected soundwaves to create images of internal body parts. At Condell, we provide abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, breast and musculoskeletal diagnostic ultrasound services. Doppler studies of the neck, upper and lower extremities to measure blood flow and velocity are also available.Hours of Operation:
Monday through Friday, 7 am to 11 pm
Saturdays, 7 am to 3 pm
To Schedule an Appointment:
To schedule an appointment, call Central Scheduling at (847) 990-5000. A physician's order is required. You may be asked to fast or drink fluids prior to your arrival.
When You Arrive:
After registering, you may be asked to change into a patient gown.
During the Exam:
You will be asked to lie on a special table and the technologist will apply gel to the area to be scanned. You may be asked to hold your breath while some images are taken. Most exams take approximately 30 to 60 minutes.
During Doppler studies, you will hear some noise while the scan progresses. "Blood pressure type" cuffs also may be applied to any extremity being examined. These exams take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
After the Exam:
When the exam is finished, the technologist will assist you off the table. The images will be interpreted by a radiologist and a typed report will be sent to your physician within 3-5 days from the time you were examined.
