Diagnosis of Sleep Disorders

The first step in diagnosing a sleep disorder is completion of a physical exam and medical history by your physician. If a sleep disorder is suspected, final diagnosis is possible through a sleep study.

During a sleep study, patients spend the night at a Condell Sleep Disorders Center where sensors are attached to the head, chest and legs. Under the observation of a trained technician, the patient's brain waves, eye, muscle and limb movements, as well as breathing and oxygen levels are monitored via video monitors and signals from the sensors.

After the completion of your sleep study, you will meet with your physician to discuss the results of your test, and treatment options if necessary.
