New Chief Medical Officer Named at Condell Medical Center
Joan Boomsma, MD, CPE, combines caring, clinical and business skills

LIBERTYVILLE, IL—Joan Boomsma, MD, CPE, brought her award-winning clinical and administrative skills to Condell Medical Center last month as the hospital's new chief medical officer and senior vice president for medical affairs.

Dr. Boomsma's record of accomplishments includes serving as chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs at three hospitals in the Chicago market. In her most recent position at St. Francis Hospital and Health Center in Blue Island, she guided the organization to earn the prestigious Silver Award from the Lincoln Foundation for Performance Excellence. Dr. Boomsma is also president-elect of the Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago.

At Condell, she will oversee the departments of quality and clinical excellence, risk management, infection prevention and control, care management and the medical staff office.

"I was influenced in my decision to come to Condell because I was very impressed with the medical staff members. It was clear to me that they are dedicated to the best care of patients. That's something I want to be part of," Dr. Boomsma said.

Dr. Boomsma is board-certified in pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine. She holds a medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
